A MISSION THAT'S HAPPENING
København Danser was established in 2020 with a mission to expand and develop dance as a performing artform in Denmark, both for audiences and the dance community. We bring dance of the highest caliber to Denmark, aiming to make it accessible for EVERYONE.
Our curation is guided by values of societal relevance and top quality, as we believe this will benefit Denmark's dance environment the most. We aim to inspire the creative sector by bringing sublime dance performances and related activities to the country. In doing so, we can contribute to the development of Denmark’s artistic level.
In 2020, we focused on identifying what was missing in the dance scene in Denmark, and today, this has blossomed into a small organization with a powerful platform, strong values, and a clear vision.
København Danser presented its first guest performance in 2020, and since then, we have showcased 8 different guest companies, with a total of 41 shows and more than 25,000 audience members.
Each season's repertoire has ranged widely, from Les Étoiles of the Paris Opera to Batsheva Ensemble and Peeping Tom.
FOUNDATION
We are proud to have established a foundation, named Fonden Værtsskabsteatret, as the basis and organizational umbrella for our artistic non-profit mission with København Danser.
Our mission is charitable and solution-oriented, and it’s rewarding to feel the appreciation and gratitude for our vision.
DANCE WITH US
Starting a new dance festival and a new cultural organization requires a strong community. We are endlessly grateful to the people who have made København Danser possible. We believe that many small streams can come together to form a mighty river of extraordinary artistic experiences. So, we invite you to dance with us in the pursuit of a culturally rich world.
