Les Ballets Trockadero
de Monte Carlo

Men, pointe shoes and amazing dance

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is finally coming to Copenhagen, and it's going to be a ball! During Copenhagen Pride, in August 2023, the Trocks will take on Folketeatret with pointe shoes, tutus and tiaras in their wigs. The Trocks, as the company is lovingly called, is a ballet company with a unique approach to the classical ballet repertoire that is playfully parodic and formed by a profound love for ballet. The Trocks have no comparison.

It was established in 1974 by a group of enthusiastic ballet dancers who wanted to entertain with humorous versions of the classical repertoire performed by men dressed as women (en travesty or drag).

16. – 20. august 2023

“We came to laugh, but we stayed to worship.”

Louise Levene, The Telegraph, London

“The funniest night you’ll ever have at the ballet!”

The Guardian

“The Trocks may show you how to laugh at ballet, but they also teach you to love it.”

The New York Post

It will be both hilarious and technically impressive when these male dancers perform as their exotic ballerina alter egos in Nørregade.

The company began Off-Off-Broadway in New York, where they performed for small audiences, and were met with overwhelming enthusiasm by critics and crowds alike. This special group of dancers quickly gained international attention and began performing all over the world. Throughout all these years their approach has not changed: ballet classics with a cheeky twist and skillful pointe work. The Trocks are proof that men can dance in pointe shoes without falling on their faces.

When the Trocks visit Folketeatret, we will experience highlights of their repertoire including the romantic second act from Swan Lake, the Dying Swan and the classical bravura ballet Paquita.

The Trocks have conquered audiences throughout the world with their incredible charm. They comically exhibit the self-importance of classical ballet, and make their audience laugh whether they are ballet lovers or novices. Their love of dance is infectious, making it impossible not to love them.

An extraordinary experience awaits at Folketeatret. It will be both hilarious and technically impressive when these male dancers perform as their exotic ballerina alter egos in Nørregade from the 17th-20th of August in 2023.
