Broken Theater af

BOBBI JENE SMITH

Broken Theater, created and directed by Bobbi Jene Smith, brings together a cast of 12 performers (including Bobbi Jene herself) and dives into what it feels like to fall apart a little — as people, as artists, as a company. The audience is invited into the story of a fictional dance/theatre company, also called Broken Theater, and things unfold in a kind of inside-out world where we see what usually stays behind the curtain.

What we witness is the cast rehearsing a show — navigating relationships, dealing with the ups and downs of life in dance and theatre, and constantly blurring the line between who they are onstage and who they are in real life. If there even is a clear line.

Using dance, text, music, and theatrical tools, Bobbi Jene brings her unique voice to the stage — full of vulnerability, humor, passion, physical intensity, and a very human kind of confusion. She invites the audience into a world that feels both raw and beautiful — sometimes sad, sometimes joyful, often both at once.

Broken Theater is no exception. It’s a piece that, like its creator, doesn’t quite fit into any box. It’s layered, emotional, and entirely its own thing. You can’t really describe it — you just have to experience it.
