Marcos Morau is known for delving into dark and fascinating themes. With Sonoma, he explores the boundaries between aesthetic beauty and psychological intensity, creating a surreal universe where humanity and vulnerability are expressed through a unique interplay of dance and scenography. As Morau himself says: “Dance is an exploration of humanity’s deepest drives—the primal force that propels us, though we rarely see it clearly.”
Uddannet i fotografi, bevægelse og teater i Valencia, Barcelona og New York, skaber Marcos Morau (Valencia, 1982) fantasifulde verdener og landskaber med et klart og nutidigt blik. I 2023 blev han udnævnt til Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters af det franske kulturministerium og kåret som Årets bedste koreograf af det prestigefyldte tyske magasin Tanz. Ud over sit kontinuerlige arbejde med La Veronal samarbejder Marcos Morau også som gæstekunstner med førende kompagnier og teatre verden over, hvor han skaber nye værker i krydsfeltet mellem scenekunst og dans. Disse omfatter blandt andet Nederlands Dans Theater, Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Den Kongelige Danske Ballet and the Royal Ballet of Flanders. Siden 2023 har han desuden været associeret kunstner ved Staatsballett Berlin, som er tilknyttet Deutsche Oper, Komische Oper and Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
