“Emotional, essential, formidable”

 British Theatre Guide

”DECADANCE ER STEDET, HVOR VI FEJRER VORES REPERTOIRE, EN LEGEPLADS, HVOR VI LÆGGER TIL ELLER TRÆKKER FRA. DET GIVER OS MULIGHED FOR AT ANSKUE VORES VÆRKER FRA NYE SYNSVINKLER. FØRST OG FREMMEST ELSKER JEG, AT DECADANCE GIVER DANSERNE MULIGHED FOR AT DANSE DERES EGEN FORTOLKNING AF TRIN OG BEVÆGELSER. DET GIVER SUBLIME ØJEBLIKKE.”

OHAD NAHARIN

Ohad Naharin created Decadance in 2000 to mark the tenth anniversary of his work in Batsheva Dance Company with ten excerpts from choreographies he created for the company. Since then, every season Naharin returns with the dancers to Decadance and presents new adaptations to iconic works from his repertoire as well as new pieces, meticulously curating and editing them into a captivating collage.

Decadance embodies the possibility of a piece to remain open-ended, forever becoming, never finite. This is an invitation to revisit compositions written for the body and the company’s diverse materials, to dive into them, remix them, look at them with fresh eyes, and sense ourselves in front of them time and again, but never the same.
Ohad Naharin is also a familiar figure in the Danish dance scene. The Batsheva Dance Company has previously performed in Denmark, brought here by the Copenhagen International Theatre, the Royal Danish Theatre, and the Dance Scene, and Ohad Naharin has staged his works with both the Royal Danish Ballet and the Danish Dance Theatre.
Ohad Naharin has developed the experimental movement and body language GAGA, which is a new way of gaining knowledge and self-awareness through the body.
GAGA increases awareness of the body's physical possibilities and awakens strong emotions.
In his many years as artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company, Ohad Naharin expanded the dancers' scope for interpretation and movement when GAGA became part of the company's DNA.
The dancers from the Batsheva Ensemble will undoubtedly provide the audience with a creative and inspiring experience in their encounter with professional Gaga, where imagination can work and thoughts can flow freely.
