Our new Residency Center is now accepting applications!

You can expect a response to your application on Monday 17/11/2025.

The residency is for professional artists within the field of dance and choreography, who need studio facilities for a project, rehearsals or artistic research.

What we offer:
  • Access to studio space for a 3 week period (value approx. 15,000 DKK), Monday to Friday for 4-6 hours depending on agreement.
  • Additional purchase of morning class at 50 DKK per participant per day.
  • Opportunity to get feedback from experienced choreographers/dramaturges/producers.
  • Possibility to participate in a sharing or workshop at the end of the residency.
  • Facilities: changing room, kitchen, WiFi and sound equipment.
What should your application contain:
  • A project description (max. 1 page) where you describe your artistic vision. In the project description we would also like to know how far you are with your project – and where you want the project to go.
  • Information about other support, funding, co-producers and collaborators.
  • CV of the participating artists and/or documentation of artistic practice in the form of links to video/website and/or image material.
What does København Danser Studios expect from you:
  • The artist should, within reasonable limits, make good use of the studio for the specified period.
  • The residency is binding and cancellations must be made no later than 8 weeks before the start date.
  • The artist is encouraged to share their process via social media to increase the visibility of the program.
  • København Danser Studios is not a producion house, and we expect you to be able to manage on your own project.
  • The artist is expected to participate in an evaluation of the residency.
  • In the application you should indicate which weeks you are interested in, as well as the need for studio size (small, medium, large).
We assess the applications based on the following criteria:
  • The current feasibility of the project (Is the applicant in a good place with the project either thematically or in terms of support/strategy).
  • The project’s need for studio space (Will the studio space make a real difference in making the project happen or play a significant part in relation to the project’s development).
  • Variety and inclusivity in terms of genre, age, and gender.
We can offer residencies in the following periods from January to April 2026:

Week 2 – 3 – 4
(from the 5th to the 23rd of January)

Week 5 – 6 -7
(from the 26th of January to the 13th of February)

Week 8 – 9 – 10
(from the 16th of Februrary to the 6th of March)

Week 11 – 12 – 13
(from the 9th to the 27th of March)

Our new Residency Center is now accepting applications!

København Danser is opening a new residency center for dance and choreography in Copenhagen in the autumn of 2025. The residency center is dedicated to promoting dance as an art form in Denmark. It supports the development of artistic research and choreographic projects by providing access to studio space and resources. Applications for the winter/spring 2026 period that runs between January and June will open on October 1, 2025.

This first period offers space for 20 residencies, each lasting three weeks.

What we offer:

Facilities and Resources:

  • Free access to a dance studio during the scheduled residency period (value approx. 15,000 DKK), from Monday to Friday, between 11:30 and 16:30. The studio must be completely cleared by 16:30 each day.
  • Option to join the morning class at 50 DKK per participant per day.
  • Opportunity for feedback and mentoring from an experienced choreographer, dramaturg, or producer.
  • Possibility to organize a final showing or workshop in collaboration with other residency artists.
  • Facilities include changing rooms, a tea kitchen, Wi-Fi, and sound equipment.

The application must include:

  • A project description (maximum 1 page) outlining your artistic vision. In the description, we would also like to know how far along you are in your process, and where you hope the process will lead.
  • Information about other funding sources, co-producers, and collaborators.
  • CVs of the key artistic team members and/or documentation of artistic practice, such as links to video, website, and/or image material.

What we expect from you: 

  • If selected, the residency is binding. Cancellations must be made no later than 8 weeks before the start date.
  • Artists are encouraged to share their process on social media to help increase the visibility of the program.
  • Please note that København Danser is not a production house, and we expect artists to be self-sufficient during their stay.
  • Artists commit to participating in a short evaluation at the end of the residency.
